Nick Kyrgios comfortably beat Fernando Verdasco 6-1 as the Singapore Slammers defeated the Japan Warriors in the International Premier Tennis League on Tuesday.
Kiki Bertens gave the Slammers the perfect start with a 6-2 victory over former world No 1 Jelena Jankovic and Rainer Schuettler stretched Singapore's lead further when edged Fernando Gonzalez 6-5 in the Legends' game.
Bertens earned her second victory of the day, this time alongside Marcelo Melo in the doubles, when the duo defeated Jankovic and Jean-Julien Rojer to open up a 3-0 lead in sets.
The Warriors claimed their first victory of the day when Rojer and Verdasco earned a hard-fought 6-5 victory over Baghdatis and Melo but Kyrgios ensured the Slammers had the last laugh with his emphatic singles win over Verdasco in the final match.

In the day's other match, the Indian Aces proved too strong for the UAE Royals as they won four of their five sets to run out 26-19 winners.
Ana Ivanovic joined the Royals as the women's singles contender but she lost out to Kirsten Flipkens in the opening set by 6-3.
Indian duo Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza stretched the Aces' lead when they got the better of Pablo Cuevas and Martina Hingis in the mixed doubles.
In the Legends set, Mark Philippoussis heaped more misery on the Royals when he closed his set against Thomas Johansson with a Coca-Cola Power Point before Tomas Berdych lifted the Royals' spirit up with another win over Feliciano López.
In the men's doubles, Lopez and Bopanna notched yet another win for the Aces against Cuevas and Daniel Nestor.
