Kiki Bertens continued the momentum by upsetting the queen of Hyderabad, Sania Mirza. The home favourite fell to a surprise 6-3 defeat against the Dutch No 1.

In the mixed doubles, Marcelo Melo and Bertens neutralised the power of Mirza and her Indian partner Rohan Bopanna 6-1.

The Slammers were in the ascendancy by now and Australian star Nick Kyrgios joined Melo to see off Aces pair Feliciano Lopez and Ivan Dodig to edge their side ever closer to a second consecutive title.

And it was left to Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, a former Australian Open finalist, to seal an emphatic win with a 6-4 success over Feliciano Lopez.
