Amelie Mauresmo is stepping down as France's Fed Cup captain as she is expecting her second child.

The 37-year-old's announcement came a day after France were beaten 3-2 by the Czech Republic in a thrilling final in Strasbourg.

"For personal reasons, I am leaving my position. I'm expecting a second child," said former world No 1 Mauresmo.

"I'm going to give birth in April 2017, and it's incompatible with the Fed Cup schedule.

"This has got nothing to do with the results this weekend nor with any so-called disagreement among the girls. It is simply because it would be impossible to continue."

Mauresmo, who won the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006, coached Andy Murray between June 2014 and May 2016 during which time she gave birth to son Aaron in August 2015.
