Sir Mo Farah and Sir Andy Murray nominated for Laureus Sports Awards

Sir Mo Farah and Sir Andy Murray are two of six Britons shortlisted for prizes at next month's Laureus Sports Awards.

While Farah and Murray are up for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, Laura Kenny has been nominated for the World Sportswoman of the Year gong.

Elsewhere, there are nominations for Olympic show jumping champion Nick Skelton and mountain bike star Rachel Atherton.

Skelton is among the candidates for World Comeback of the Year, while Atherton is in the running for World Action Sportsperson of the Year.

Meanwhile, Premier League champions Leicester City could win the prize for the Breakthrough of the Year.

Now in their 18th year, the shortlists for the Laureus Awards are decided by votes from journalists around the world, with the final decision made by the members of the Laureus Academy.

These are 62 sporting greats that include athlete Michael Johnson, golfer Jack Nicklaus and cricketer Viv Richards.

Joining Farah and Murray in the category for Sportsman of the Year are sprinter Usain Bolt (a three-time winner of this award), NBA superstars Steph Curry and LeBron James, and footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the women's section, Kenny will face stiff competition from gymnast Simone Biles, athlete Allyson Felix, tennis player Angelique Kerber, swimmer Katie Ledecky and sprinter Elaine Thompson.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Monaco on February 14.
