Novak Djokovic eased into the Shanghai Masters quarter-finals with victory over Vasek Pospisil, but there was a shock defeat for Milos Raonic.
The world No 1 had little trouble against his Canadian opponent, coming through 6-4 6-4 in 79 minutes to seal a quarter-final meeting with German qualifier Mischa Zverev.
Djokovic has struggled with motivation and injury problems in the second half of the season after claiming the Australian and French Open titles, but he remained on course to defend the title he won last year with another routine victory.

The Serb has already seen off Fabio Fognini in straight sets and while big-serving Pospisil fired 12 aces and 28 winners, he was no match for Djokovic who will now face world No 110 Zverev - the older brother of Alexander Zverev.
Stan Wawrinka, the world No 3, took a tumble out of the competition after a 6-4 6-4 loss to Gilles Simon.
Last year's Shanghai finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga ended the hopes of in-form Alexander Zverev with a thrilling 6-7 6-2 7-5 victory.
Tsonga is back on court for the first time since knee surgery after his injury-forced exit from the US Open and had to do things the hard way after Zverev took the first set on the tie-break.
But the Frenchman rallied to win an entertaining clash in just under two-and-a-half hours and he will next face Roberto Bautista Agut in the last eight after the Spaniard saw off Viktor Troicki 6-3 6-3.
Mischa Zverev is 10 years older than his brother and became the first qualifier to reach a Masters quarter-final this year, coming from a set down to beat Spain's Marcel Granollers who also came through qualifying.
Zverev overcame Nick Kyrgios in Wednesday's headline-grabbing second round encounter but the German was given a tougher test before eventually coming through 6-7 6-4 6-1.

America's Jack Sock recovered from losing the first set to love as he beat world No 5 Milos Raonic saving two match points in the process.
Sock had lost the previous eight meetings with the Wimbledon runner-up who confirmed his place at the season-ending World Tour Finals with a run to the last four in Beijing last week.
But having lost the first set without winning a game, Sock stormed back to take the second before sealing victory in an epic third set set tie-break.
