Richard Gasquet secured his 14th ATP Tour title with a straight sets win over Diego Schwartzman in the European Open final.

The Frenchman prevailed 7-6 (7-4) 6-1 to win the inaugural tournament in Antwerp and add to the trophy he won earlier this year at home in Montpellier.

The third seed, who beat Britain's Kyle Edmund in Saturday's semi-final, had to dig deep to win the opening set, taking a tense tiebreak 7-4, but the second set was much easier as he claimed the title in less than an hour-and-a-half.

Schwartzman could not quite match the levels he showed in the semi-finals when he knocked out top seed, and home favourite, David Goffin.
