British No 1 Johanna Konta will move into the world's top 10 after beating Madison Keys 7-6 (7-1) 4-6 6-4 to reach the China Open final.

Konta eventually prevailed 7-6 4-6 6-4 after two hours and 35 minutes, and she will take on Agnieszka Radwanska in Sunday's final.

And the 25-year-old will become the first British woman to break into the top 10 since Jo Durie in 1984 when the next world rankings are released.

Konta, who is chasing her second WTA title of the year, will also move into the top eight in the Road to Singapore, meaning she is on course to qualify for the WTA Finals later this month.

The 11th-seed Konta and eighth-seeded American Keys exchanged two breaks each in the first set before Konta took charge in the tie-break, winning five points in a row to take it 7-1.

But Keys stormed into a 5-2 lead in the second set, breaking twice and, although Konta got one of the breaks back immediately, Keys staved off three break points two games later and finally managed to serve out the set.

Keys then broke again at the start of set three but Konta levelled at 1-1 and the duo then held serve until Keys cracked at 4-5, Konta racing into a 40-0 love lead and then converting her second match point.

"I'm definitely enjoying my time here," said Konta. "It's my first time playing Beijing and I hope to play many more times. It's a pleasure to play here.

"She's such a high quality player, and she has such weight of shots. I'm pretty sure I was cleaning the back of the court there, she was keeping me back.

"I really just tried to run down as many balls as I could and really just take the chances that I got."

Konta will now tackle the third-seeded Radwanska after the Pole defeated Ukraine's Elina Svitolina 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 in Saturday's second semi-final.

Konta and Radwanska met for the first time in Cincinnati earlier this year, Radwanska winning 6-7 6-4 6-0.
